Probability vs proportion of units occupied

There is a subtle, but important, distinction between a probability and a proportion. In this video Darryl discusses the difference between these similar concepts, in the context of occupancy modelling (i.e., presence or absence of a species). The distinction is most important in the case when data is being collected at a substantial fraction of the population of interest.
