Heloise combines her passion for marine mammals with expertise in quantitative methods to better understand the status of animal populations. With a background in Oceanography and a PhD in Statistics from the University of Otago, she has over 15 years of experience analysing a wide range of ecological data. She specialises in methods for estimating population abundance, including distance sampling and mark–recapture, occupancy modelling and survival analysis.
Heloise applies both Bayesian and frequentist approaches to develop flexible solutions tailored to each client's needs. With strong attention to detail and excellent project management skills, she is committed to delivering high-quality outcomes.
Surprising fact: Heloise spent a couple of years living in the Amazon, where she conducted research on pink river dolphins.
